International Students Celebrate Waitangi Day by Performing Haka and Sharing Their Traditional Food with Neighbours
Almost half a month passed since the first batch of secondary students of USIF-NZ reached New Zealand.
On Waitangi Day this year, the family of USIF-NZ has decided to let the students celebrate the holiday in a special way.
The students first got to learn what day is Waitangi Day in order to know its significance. Then, they started to practise the Haka.
Waitangi Day happened to overlap with the Lunar New Year, which is celebrated in East Asia overall.
As a way of celebrating both holidays, the students cooked their national food and shared it with their neighbours.
